ABSTRACT
Facial wrinkles are caused with aging and skin-sag in a state of gravitation, and operations of facial expressive muscles. In order to remove those facial wrinkles, surgical face lifting, chemical peeling, skin peeling are being done. However, patients who don’t want anesthesia or surgical operation recently prefer the treatment way of botulinum toxin A to the existing surgical cure or peeling. In Korea, botulinum toxin A was used first to cure facial wrinkles in the department of dermatology around 1999. Botulinum toxin A causes little pain unlike other plastic operations and shows immediate results after undergoing the plastic operation. Patients can feel satisfied immediately, and continue daily living. In particular, the advantage that it takes a very short time to have this plastic operation, and the operation is simple encourages many people to have this plastic operation. In spite of these advantages, disadvantages exist also; Botulinum toxin A’s effectiveness doesn’t last long, therefore, patients should have this medical treatment again, temporary secondary effects arise after taking the plastic operation, besides, its expense is too high. Repeated cures with Botulinum toxin A don’t influence its treatment’s interval, but the more the treatment interval reduced, the more patients’ satisfaction degrees reduced. In order to prevent plausible side effects, the most effective or small dosage should be used, and medical administrators should keep the exact location to be injected. The aim of Botulinum toxin A’s wrinkle-cure is not to cure diseases, instead, it aims at beauty treatment or improvement. Therefore, patients should know its side effects that might arise after the plastic operation, medical administrators should not only know side effects but also make efforts to avoid them with highly advanced skills.
