ABSTRACT
This study examines the influence of Korean daily-used basic skin care products - mostly consist of 4-step cosmetics - on women living today. The subjects of this research are grown-up women who have been applying 4-step basic skin care products only. A costly reasonable 4-step skin care kit, including a toner, lotion, serum, and cream, was given to the subjects, who applied a tonic and lotion (2-step kit) on the left side of their face, and all of them( 4-step kit) on the right side, during the clinical trial. First of all, the survey before the trial shows that the most respondents apply a 4-step basic skin care kit, due to the belief that it will exert greater effect on their skin. Second, the result of the clinical trial shows that the changes in facial moisture & oil levels, skin elasticity and dead skin cells on both left and right side are the same. Lastly, according to the survey after the trial, there exists no distinction in impression or feeling between the 2-step kit and 4-step kit. The subjects expressed high satisfaction at the result of the-2-step-kit-use. To sum up, applying many cosmetics does not bring greater result, but the proper use of them rather fulfills the purpose of the cosmetics, the maintenance of beautiful skin. Since this paper can be used as the basic data for the right use of the basic skin care cosmetics.
