The Effects of Aroma Inhalation on The Stress Responses of Woman College Students

ABSTRACT
This research is on the effect of aroma inhalation to the women college students under stress. This study term was from Oct 28, 2008 to Oct 31, 2008. And it was researched with 55 college students of department of nursing science. The method was that after inhalation mixing oil with lavendula angustifolia, Citrus bergamia, Citrus lemon, Rosa damascena in the ratio of 2:1:2:1, and then rest for 20 minutes. The data were analyzed by the SPSS/WIN 14.0K program using x2-test, paired t-test, Pearson Correlation. The results of this study are summarized as follows 1. The aroma inhalation group had a low point of anxiety than the control group. 2. The aroma inhalation group had a low point of reaction of physiological stress.This is true of the blood pressure and pulse ratio. 3. The cortisol in the blood was significantly related to that of the saliva. As the result of this research, it was appeared that aroma inhalation had the good method for the relief of the stress. Therefore, it is recommended that this program should be used in clinical practice as an effective intervention.
