Anti-allergic Effects of Phyto-Extract Mixture (Sol-M®)

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the anti-allergic effects of the phyto-extract mixture(Sol-M®) which contains Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Phellodendri Cortex, Pinus densiflora Sieb., Mori Cortex Radicis. The effects of Sol-M® on the systemic and local anaphylactic reactions induced by compound 48/80 were investigated in ICR mice. The mortalities of mice pre-treated with 50,100 and 200㎎/㎏ of Sol-M® were decreased to 30%,50% and 60% respectively. Intraperitoneal administration of Sol-M® in the mice was showed a dose-dependent decrease in the mortality. In local atopic dermatitis induced by intradermal injection of compound 48/80(50㎍/site), the scratching behaviors was significantly inhibited by 6-day oral pretreatment with Sol-M® (200mg/kg) to 54.7±23.9 times. Evan's blue leakage was also significantly reduced by Sol-M®. In addition, the levels of IgE, histamine, IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, TNF-α, Eotaxin were significantly inhibited in Sol-M®-treated mice. These results indicate that Sol-M® contains ingredients inhibiting degranulation or action of inflammatory mediators from mast cell and it maybe effective in preventing systemic or local allergic reations including atopic dermatitis.
