Effects of Rosin® on Atopic Dermatitis in the Chemical Antigen induced Atopic Dermatitis Model Mice
Hye-Sook Lee, Seock-Yeon Hwang
ABSTRACT
Atopic dermatitis(AD) usually develops in patients with an individual or family history of allergic diseases, and is characterized by chronic relapsing inflammation seen specially in childhood, association with IgE hyperproduction and precipitation by environmental factors. In this study, we investigated the scratching behaviors, IgE levels and histamine levels in the serum, the edema formation and IL-4 levels in splenocytes of chemical antigen induced AD model BALB/c mice to evaluate the therapeutic effects of Rosin® on atopic dermatitis. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Rosin® significantly reduced the numbers of scratching behaviors(p<0.01). 2. The edema formation(Evan's blue leakage) was significantly lower in Rosin® than the vehicle group(p<0.01). 3. Rosin® significantly suppressed the levels of IgE and histamine in the serum(p<0.01). 4. Compare to the vehicle group, Rosin® reduced the levels of IL-4by5.5%(p<0.05). The results of this study suggest that Rosin® has an anti-allergic activity and this might be useful the clinical application to treat allergic disease such as atopic dermatitis.
