NC/Nga Mouse Preventive Effect of the Hydrolyzate is the Scutellanae radix Extracts Atopic Dermatitis Model on Skin Lesion
Mi Young Yun
ABSTRACT
Atopic dermatitis most often affects infants and young children, but it can continue into adulthood or first show up later in life. Anti-inflammatory drugs including steroid compounds such as prednisone and dexamethasone are generally used for atopic dermatitis therapy. Acute effects of these medication are expected in many cases, but long-term cure is not guaranteed in most of the cases due to severe side effects. NC/Nga mice in baicalein (SB) was applied in advance to determine the activity of the skin tissue and skin immune cells. Immune cell numbers in the skin positive to CD3+/CD69+, CCR3+, CD11b+/Gr-1+, B220+/IgE+ all of which were up-regulated in AD-induced mice were decreased and returned to normal levels. Histological examination showed that infiltration levels of immune cells in the skin of AD-induced NC/Nga mice were much improved by pre-SB treatment. These results thus suggest that SB can regulate molecular mediators and immune cells that are functionally associated with atopic dermatitis induced in NC/Nga mice, and may play an important role in recovering AD symptoms.
