The Effect of Meridian Massage on Head and Neck on the Relief of Housewives' stress

ABSTRACT
This study was designed to identify the effects of meridian massage on head and neck on housewives' stress. The subjects were housewives without cardiovascular disease. The meridian massage was applied on head and neck for 30 minutes. The massage program were carried out once a day for 10 days. For HRV, mHRT, LF/HF and SDNN were measured 1st, 5th and 10th before and after program. Visual analog stress scale were measured before 1st massage program and after 10th massage program. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. mHRT, LF/HF were decreased after meridian massage on head and neck. 2. SDNN were increased after meridian massage on head and neck. 3. In comparison of mHRT and LF/HF measured on 1st massage and 10th massage, the data were decreased. But the differences were not statistically significant. 4. In comparison of SDNN measured on 1st massage and 10th massage, the data were increased. But the differences were not statistically significant. 5. VIsual analog stress scale were decreased after 10th massage compared to before 1th massage . Consequently, this study showed that the meridian massage on head and neck was effective in reducing stress of housewives.
